Famillement is the largest family history event in the Netherlands. Every two years, the CBG|Center for family history, in cooperation with a regional or city archive, organizes a day full of activities in the field of family history, for both starting and experienced genealogists. Admission is free.
Famillement 2020 has been postponed to June 25th, 2022 due to the measures taken to contain the coronavirus.
The venues for the event are the Amsterdam City Archives and the DeLaMar Theater. If you wish, you can travel between both locations on a genuine Amsterdam canal boat. The exact program will be revealed at a later date, but it will definitely include a variety of interviews, workshops, lectures, guided tours and ‘meet & greet’ sessions with experts. Amongst the topics to be discussed are the latest developments in DNA-research, regional history and migration.
A recurring element of the Famillement is the information market, where a large number of regional and (inter)national organizations show and explain their activities in the field of genealogy and family history. It offers visitors an opportunity to gather information and exchange experiences and ideas with local and international fellow enthusiasts. There will be stands specialized in DNA research, heraldry and nobility, WWII, German and Flemish genealogy, and the former Dutch colonies in Surinam and Indonesia. And, of course, the CBG|Center for family history itself will be present to inform and assist you during the day.
The CBG|Center for family history is a non-profit organization. Famillement, a free event, is made possible with the support of sponsors and crowdfunding initiatives. We are very happy with every donation, large or small, to help us continue to inspire and help many people interested in finding their roots, and creating a pleasant environment for them to meet.
